Bishop O'Dowd offers Summer Academy
O’Dowd Summer Academy for students entering 6th-8th grade offers an enriched, fun and engaging summer experience on the O’Dowd campus. A new program format addresses whole-child development and encourages self-exploration. The daily schedule of academic, physical and social-emotional development activities includes “Community Time,” a space in which students work in small groups around topics that foster health and wellness. Guided by trained teen camp counselors and supervised by adult staff, students dialogue about topics such as social media, inclusion, and mindfulness with the goals of staying healthy, maintaining positive social practices and respectfully engaging in the world around them. This program includes hands on learning, interactive activities, and group work across a variety of academic subject areas; enrichment courses (arts, programming, business design, gardening); and athletics (girls and boys basketball, track and field, and strength and conditioning). Lunch is included for students taking three or more courses.
