Last Thursday, Assumption School welcomed Angela Dalton, author of To Boldly Go: The Story of Nichelle Nichols, for an inspiring Women’s History Month presentation to our 3rd and 6th graders. Ms. Dalton not only read her book but also shared her journey as a writer—one she knew she was destined for since 3rd grade. She encouraged students to pursue their passions, reminding them that their dreams can become reality.
Students were captivated by the story of Nichelle Nichols, best known as Commander Uhura from Star Trek, who helped recruit women and people of color for NASA’s Space Program in the 1970s. Ms. Dalton also introduced students to Sally Ride and Mae Jemison, highlighting the importance of women in space.
A special thank you to Ms. Dalton, the School Board JEDI Committee, and the Assumption Foundation for making this amazing event possible!
