Assumption School Celebrates International Day with Music, Food, and Culture

On Monday, March 3, Assumption School transformed into a global showcase for its annual International Day, celebrating the rich traditions of cultures from around the world.

The event kicked off with nine captivating performances, each representing a different culture. Students and guests enjoyed traditional music and dances from the Philippines, Italy, Jordan, China, West Africa, and Mexico, among others. Even a special performance from Ms. Campbell on the violin was a special treat. The performances highlighted the beauty of diverse customs and artistic expressions.

Following the performances, students visited the gym in small groups, which had been transformed into a world exhibit. Each continent was represented, and 7th-grade docents took on the role of cultural ambassadors, sharing fascinating facts and stories about different regions.

Parent volunteers added to the immersive experience by providing delicious international treats, including plantains, rice, egg rolls, fortune cookies, and juices. Students had the opportunity to taste flavors from around the world, further deepening their appreciation of global cultures.

To encourage continued learning, students received a cultural booklet filled with information and activities, allowing them to explore even more at home.

International Day was a resounding success, fostering curiosity, inclusivity, and a love for global traditions among students, staff, and families.
