Assumption School Academic Decathlon Informational Meeting November 7

Dear 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Families,

We are excited to announce the opportunity to participate in the Academic Junior High Decathlon (AJHD) for grades 6-8 students. The AJHD is a one-day competition designed for Catholic School students to showcase their academic excellence. This year, the event will be held on March 1 at Moreau Catholic High School.

The competition consists of 10 events: two collaborative team efforts—a Logic Quiz and a Super Quiz—and eight individual events covering Roman Catholic doctrine, English, Literature, Science, Mathematics, Current Events, Social Studies, and Fine Arts. It's a wonderful chance for students to challenge themselves and shine in both team and individual settings.

If your child wants to join the Assumption School AJHD team for the DIOCESE OF OAKLAND competition, please watch this informative video and have your student come to the informational meeting on November 7 at 12:35 p.m. (their lunch period).

Please also view the AJHD website https://www.catholicajhd.org/.

We are also looking for assistant coaches in the areas of Religion, English, Literature, Science, Mathematics, Current Events, Social Studies, and Fine Arts to help students learn the material or be a resource to the students as needed. Assistant coaches need to have their Safe Environment Training and Livescan completed. Assistant coaches will check in with their team members once a month (usually the third Thursday of the Month) via Zoom or in person to review the materials during the students' team meeting. Assistant coaches need to purchase and read the resource materials (usually ONE book you can order from Amazon). Contact Lana Rocheford at [email protected] if you can help. Parent hours are given for your time.
