Assumption School held its annual Advent Reconciliation service, bringing together students from grades 3 to 8 for a meaningful spiritual experience in two services during the day. The event, held in preparation for Christmas, emphasized the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation, also known as Confession, is a key sacrament for Catholics. It involves the acknowledgment of sins, sincere repentance, and the seeking of God's forgiveness. During this sacrament, individuals confess their sins to a priest, who acts as a mediator, offering guidance and absolution. The process is aimed at spiritual healing, reconciliation with God, and strengthening one's commitment to living a virtuous life.
All students were welcome to participate in the individual absolution regardless of faith and those baptized Catholic who have taken part in the Sacrament in 2nd Grade were encouraged to take part. Most of the service was one of personal reflection, song, and scripture readings.
At our service, Ricky F. ('24), provided a reflection to students connecting how this opportunity was one that lightens the heart and helped him.
The Advent Reconciliation service at Assumption School provided students with an opportunity for reflection, self-examination, and the chance to experience the grace of forgiveness during the Advent season. Such events play a crucial role in fostering a sense of spiritual community and preparing the school community for the celebration of Christmas.
