Attention 4th through 8th graders of Assumption School
Assumption Parish is welcoming you to become an Altar Server for our church services
Altar serving is a ministry offered by Assumption Church to Catholic boys and girls in grades 4th through 8th grades. An altar server helps support tasks at the altar such as fetching and carrying, ringing the altar bell, helping bring up the gifts, bringing up the book, among other things.
Assumption Parish is offering three training days for students interested in altar serving at our school masses as well as weekend liturgies. Two dates are REQUIRED for new altar servers. Previously trained altar servers can also take part in the training as a refresher for ONE day.
Dates:
2:15 - 3:15 Wednesday in the Church
November 17
December 1
December 15 (recommended refresher for previously trained servers)
Interested families MUST sign up by November 13 by filling out the attached form and permission. This provides permission for students to be escorted to the church by volunteers from school as well as participate in the training. Students MUST be picked up from the church by 3:15 p.m. or be escorted into Extended Care by a volunteer.
Permission Form:
At the end of the training, students will receive a certificate of completion/renewal as well as be welcomed to altar serve on our school and weekend schedule.
PARENT HOURS ALERT: We need two - three parents to sign up to help supervise the altar server training for each day. Vaccination, LiveScan, and Virtus training requirements apply.
Parent volunteers will have a list of students who will gather at the flagpole, pass out name tags to students, and be walked over to the church (one parent in the front and one in the back). Then during the training, the volunteers will help supervise and redirect students as needed as a support to our parish volunteers who are in charge of the training. After the training, the volunteers will wait for pick up in front of the church and at 3:20 p.m. walk students to Extended Care for sign-in.
