Dear Families,
We will have a regular school day tomorrow, Monday, March 16, with Extended Care for families. Please note that on this day, teachers will meet with students, have a normal school day, and prepare them for the Long-Term Dismissal. If you or your student are sick, please keep your students home and follow the below ABSENT student work pick-up procedure. Please read below ... I know it is lengthy and detailed. Thank you for reading all of it.
MONDAY Dismissal:
To encourage social distancing, we are enacting a modified pick up procedure. Parents, we will keep the parking lot open for you to PARK and walk to the classrooms to pick up students at staggered times to allow for the least amount of crowding. Because of the demand, we are unable to provide requests for devices for families any earlier than 3:15 p.m. for families who turned in their SIGNED DEVICE AGREEMENT by 9 a.m. Monday.
2:30 - 2:45 FAMILIES WITH SIBLINGS NOT NEEDING DEVICES. Students with siblings will be dismissed from the classrooms to parents.
2:45 - 3:15: ALL FAMILIES NOT NEEDING DEVICES. All families can pick up students from classrooms.
3:00: Extended Care students may sign into Extended Care. Borrowed devices will be delivered to these students but NO devices may be used during their time in EC.
3:15 - 3:30: FAMILIES WITH SIBLINGS THAT NEED DEVICES. Families that need devices can pick up their students and devices at this time.
3:15 - 3:45: FAMILIES of ABSENT STUDENTS. Students who are absent will have their work placed on the school benches outside the classrooms for parent pick up.
3:45: All (non-Extended Care) students or absent student work should be picked up by families. Any work left on the benches will be brought back into the classrooms. NO WORK WILL BE LEFT IN THE OFFICE FOR PICK UP.
TUESDAY: The school will be closed to families and students while teachers prepare for Remote Learning. The office will be closed. Absent student families can pick up labeled work from the school benches from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. but no face-to-face teacher/staff meetings with families will take place during this time. Please respect the need for teachers to not be interrupted as they plan.
Remote Learning will take place on WEDNESDAY with emails sent from teachers to update you about expectations. The school will continue to email families updating you on the status of school, changes in our schedule, and to touch base.
Thank you again for your support. We are working hard to make sure you have what you need to prepare your students for learning. Many public school districts are providing free meals to children under 18 at scheduled times during the day - if you know of a child or family who may need this service, please remind them of San Leandro services available by sharing this link.
We will continue to provide information through this channel and through our website. Please check back often. If you know of someone who is not receiving these messages, please email [email protected].
With truest sincerity and appreciation,
Lana Rocheford
